Kendrick Lamar first Rapper to Win a Pulitzer Prize for Music

African American rapper and songwriter Kendrick Lamar became the first rapper to win the Pulitzer Prize for music.

Larmar, from Compton, California, won for his album “DAMN” and is also known for recently producing the film soundtrack for the highly successful Marvel film Black Panther.

The Pulitzer Prize one of the most prestigious arts awards in the United States.
Lamar will receive a $15,000 cash award and a certificate for the honor.
