OK, let’s skip Stevie’s heinous musical sins of the 80s and hark back to a day when he was untouchable. Totally untouchable. Full of soul, full of funk and a remarkable voice that stands comparison to any of his Motown, Stax or Atlantic contemporaries. It seems fitting that on Innervisions it was Higher Ground that took him to a whole new level with one of the finest albums of the decade and arguably the finest soul/funk album of it’s type.
